Buying a boat ?  Book an essential pre-purchase survey report from RP Marine Surveys.

Insurance Pic - Boat Chocked UpOur reports are designed to give you a professional, independent, contextual, unbiased view regarding condition and to allow you to make the correct choices when deciding or negotiating on the final purchase of your yacht or motorboat.  Typically this is a judgement on whether the work highlighted warrants further negotiation.  Sometimes the survey will confirm the boat is indeed what you are looking for and the condition you perceived it to be in.  Occasionally the survey may highlight an area of concern that necessitates a re-think on the whole deal!

The survey is very comprehensive in its scope and in addition to all the structural elements, it includes general advice on maintenance, service intervals, cosmetic details, equipment areas that need upgrading and general comments/appraisals as to condition of specific areas in comparison to sister ships.

RP Marine Surveys - Sample PageThe report's detail recommendations into essential, recommended, routine maintenance, advised and  best practise. The report gives a summary of the work required and areas that should be given consideration when deciding on the purchase, in terms of required work regarding safety, up coming work, areas that typically affect resale of the boat and of suitability of systems.

During the inspection the buyer is invited to attend the survey and ask as many questions as he or she wishes.  We will gladly impart as much information as possible with you to help. If you are new to owning a boat you will undoubtedly learn a lot, if you have owned boats before you will generally find out more specific information relevant to the new boat, indeed every boat is different.

After the inspection we can verbally go through the main points and the implications of the findings.  This can be done together if you are present or can be done by phone immediately after the survey.  Usually we will endeavour to call you immediately if a major defect is found that will considerably alter any deal by way of the extent of remedial work required (or as we call them ‘show stoppers').  Finally we can verbally go through any points of concern after you have read and digested the report.
