About Us
Roger Pinder BSc. Hons MIIMS Dip.Mar.Sur
I am committed to providing the best service for my clients. My reports are accurate, informative, unbiased and useful.
I am totally independent and my duty is to the client and I do not compromise any wording of reports to get repeat referrals from brokers. Indeed much of my work is word of mouth, my reputation and professionalism is key to the business.
I pride myself on aftercare service, from giving friendly advice over the phone on a small repair/upgrade to a small pocket cruiser, to managing specialist professional companies on refits of large 60ft plus yachts.
Experience
As one of the longest serving full time yacht surveyors in the South West, I am able to draw from a large body of practical knowledge and contacts gained over the last 20 years. RP Marine Surveys was founded in 2007 after a spell working for one of the most experienced independent motorboat surveying companies in the UK. I have good professional connections with local shipwrights, engineers, riggers, painters, GRP repair specialists and can advise on who to use for different jobs.
Qualifications
I am a Full Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors, hold a Bachelor of Science Honours degree and a specific Internationally recognised Diploma in Surveying Small Craft. My Marine Surveying Professional Indemnity Insurance allows me to survey craft up to £1,000,000 in value.
Passion
Like my clients, I am passionate about cruising. I have previously owned a 40' 1973 Trintella IV ketch motor sailor and sailed extensively with my family on the Atlantic Coasts and in the Med as far as Turkey. Currently I own both a RIB and a Sports Fishing boat for ease of getting out on the water with my kids.
With experience comes a responsibly for each boat that is inspected. As much fun as it is out there we know things can go wrong at sea - we want to minimise the risk to our clients as well as helping them make correct financial decisions for what is to most the second most expensive purchase of their lives.
